Creating with Charli Cohen at LFW
Last weekend CHARLI COHEN revealed her Akari Autumn/Winter 2015-16 Collection at LONDON FASHION WEEK. I was lucky enough to choreograph and model for this exciting sport & fashion brand’s first catwalk show. Charli Cohen bridges the gap between active wear and fashion using the latest sport-tech fabrics with her signature futuristic designs and flattering cuts. She combines my two loves; fitness and fashion so is a dream brand to represent.
Charli made the excellent decision to use real models, fitness trainers, bloggers and dancers in her show. I love that Charli chose to showcase strong, fit and athletic physiques that truly represent all things healthy at LFW. It was such a positive message and our wonderful models really did do her collection justice. The show was based around the ‘Fight Club’ theme and demanded strong, slick, warrior-esque attitude which the girls delivered and more. My wonderful dancers brought the ‘fight’ element to life with my battle choreography demonstrating how versatile the Akari Collection can be from studio to street.
Rehearsals to Catwalk
Saturday afternoon rehearsals and fittings kicked off at DANCE ATTIC STUDIO’S in Fulham. We had a tight schedule to stick to working through dance content and various walking patterns but all the girls were troopers and nailed everything I threw at them. We all got to see the Akari Collection in the flesh during fittings and the excitement grew.
Sunday was show day and I headed down early to our venue ME HOTEL. Final rehearsals and a run through of the show led straight into show prep and breakfast from the wonderful SOCIAL PANTRY. They provided us with a delicious, fuel packed menu including fresh juice, granola pots, muffins, flapjacks and popcorn to snack on. ALPRO provided almond and coconut milks to add to our tea and coffee and BLK. alkaline, fulvic water to hydrate.
Hair and makeup was provided by the ACADEMY OF FREELANCE MAKEUP, creating masked eyes, nude lips with sculpted hair styles. Once we were, fed, watered, dressed and had our fight faces ready it was drawing near to show time..which due to such a large queue was pushed back to get everyone seated and standing. My adrenaline starting building and we were soon backstage on standby ready to go.
The girls lined up and I called the order until it was my turn to step foot on the catwalk. Making my entrance in the Athena Body, Sansai Cape and black beanie the response from the room was incredible as I showcased Charli’s clothing. Next up was the finale where the main lady herself joined us to take her bow and soak up the love for her latest collection. The show had been a real supportive and team effort. Congratulations to the talented Charli Cohen, thank you to all the wonderful people involved and to my Fight Club ladies:
